Alternate Universes
Written by Emilee Trudo
We love to philosophize on “other worlds”
The fourth dimension
Parallel universes
Outer space
The ocean floor
We can chat all we want but,
what guides our life?
Two worlds we raise our thoughts within
Both served breakfast–
One: warm gravy covered love biscuit, side of 2 knowledge eggs, served over medium with shredded light. Glass of wisdom. Don’t forget the truth strips.
Two: soggy lies eaten with joy because no one knows better. Burnt trauma, with a side of harmful thought patterns. And don’t forget the glass of darkness.
Gobble gobble.
Off to school you go.
Educating in two different worlds–
One day I’m confident
bold
joyous
secure
the next I could be
insecure
scared
timid
sad
Days, moments,
-the now-
just as important as,
maybe even more than,
the future plans and past memories.
What are you in this moment?
And now this one?
If time is but a construct of cyclical-patterned humans
if dates and events are nothing but words on stone
scrolls
parchment
paper
text books
but,
lost
burned
drowned eventually to time,
then what we have left is
here and now
each moment
mattering not for its materialistic purpose
not for our limited senses
not for our version of reality
not for any remembrance
or praise
or personal gain
but for the experience of existing in that moment
embracing that moment with pure love
embracing that moment for what it may teach
